This course is strictly delivered as a 10-week program (within the 8–12 week standard), with weekly learning outcomes and practical labs.
- Week 1: Architecture fundamentals, roles, stakeholder needs, and quality attributes (security, performance, reliability).
- Week 2: Requirements at scale, NFRs, constraints, risk and trade-off thinking.
- Week 3: Architectural patterns (layered, microservices, event-driven)—when to use what.
- Week 4: Integration patterns, APIs, messaging, and data consistency considerations.
- Week 5: Security architecture (identity, threat modeling basics, least privilege, network boundaries).
- Week 6: High availability, disaster recovery, resilience patterns, and operational readiness.
- Week 7: Cost modelling and optimisation—capacity, scaling, and FinOps awareness.
- Week 8: Observability and reliability engineering (SLOs, alerting, runbooks).
- Week 9: Documentation, diagrams (C4-style), and communicating design decisions.
- Week 10: Capstone: end-to-end solution design for a realistic scenario, review, and presentation.
